Pillars in Living Spaces

Have you ever noticed pillars in living rooms, dining rooms, kitchen, etc.,? I have a few beautiful spaces for you here.. Pillars are built around columns as decorative pieces. Columns are built to support the roof of a house or a building so that it doesn't cave in. All our homes have this supporting structure - visible as a pillar or hidden as a column/beam within the wall. In some homes, there are just added as decorative pieces with no support value beneath them. Only a licensed contractor can identify such a pillar. Some pillar shapes for you here..

Look how the white, cement, wood and the metal pillars blend seamlessly with the design of the rooms below. They can act very well as a separator or to zone - kitchen from the living area, indoor from the outdoor space, etc., Sofas look the best when they are positioned between or right next to so that you don't stumble upon them. They blend well when painted the same color as some of the other details in the room - like the window panelings, or the railings or the wall color. There are so many ways to bring the beauty of these architectural details instead of seeing them as an obstruction in the room.
